Kazeyomi — Read the wind, fly a paper plane
A 3D browser game about throwing a paper plane as far as you can across a meadow. Drag up or down on the upper part of the screen (or press the up and down arrow keys) to set the launch angle, then hold the Throw button at the bottom: the gauge fills while you hold, and the plane leaves your hand at that power the moment you let go. Once it is in the air, you don't steer. Aim too high and the plane stalls at the top of its climb and drops; aim too low and it hits the ground almost at once. The wind keeps the same direction and strength for a whole set of 5 throws, shown by the windsock and the panel at the top right. Into a headwind, a hard throw lifts too much and tends to stall; with a tailwind, a firm throw carries further. Each throw leaves a flag and a trail, so you can fine-tune your angle and power in the same wind. Your score is the longest of the 5 throws, and your all-time best is saved on your device. For every wind, we check that a far-flying combination of angle and power is within reach.
How to play
- Drag up or down on the upper part of the screen to change the launch angle. Lifting your finger does not throw. The angle shows on the fan at the left
- Hold the Throw button at the bottom to fill the gauge; the plane is thrown at that power when you let go. Past full, the gauge starts to drop again
- Too steep and the plane stalls at the top of its climb and drops; too flat and it lands right away. Throwing too hard into a headwind also makes it stall
- The wind stays the same for 5 throws. Use the flags and trails of earlier throws, plus the marks left on the fan and the button, to adjust. Your longest throw of the 5 counts, and the wind changes in the next set
Keyboard: ↑↓ (or WS) change the angle by 1°, or 5° with Shift / Space or Enter hold to charge, release to throw, next set
