Kasane — Layer the colours

A colour-matching puzzle: swap translucent plates (2 to 4 of them) so that where they overlap, the colours match the sample. Colours multiply where plates overlap, so yellow over cyan makes green. From stage 3 the sample shows only the overlaps, so you work backwards from the mixed colours to where each plate belongs. Matched areas are marked not only by colour but by a solid outline and a check mark. 6 stages, and the fewer swaps you need, the better your record.

How to play

  1. The small picture at the top is the sample; below it is your board. Where plates overlap, their colours multiply
  2. Tap one plate, then another, and the two swap places. Dragging one onto another swaps them too
  3. Areas that match the sample get a solid outline and a ✓. Match them all to move on
  4. From stage 3 the sample shows overlaps only (hatched areas can be any colour). Stage 4 has one spare plate on the shelf below the board. Your total swaps over 6 stages are saved

How colours overlap

The plates behave like coloured film: where they overlap, their colours multiply and get darker. Yellow and cyan make green, pink and cyan make a dusky blue, and three plates make an even deeper colour. Because it is multiplication, it does not matter which plate is on top.

How the stages progress

Stage 1 has two plates and is solved with one swap. Stage 2 has three. From stage 3 the sample shows only the overlapping colours, and stage 4 adds a spare plate on the shelf below the board that you will not need. In stage 5 four plates all meet in the middle, and stage 6 is a staircase with areas where three plates overlap.

Tips

An overlap colour is a mix of the plates above it. A greenish overlap suggests yellow and cyan, for example. Start from the area where the most plates overlap and the rest falls into place. The number of ✓ marks tells you how close you are.

Records and colour vision

Your record is the number of swaps you needed across all 6 stages — fewer is better. The clear screen also shows the fewest swaps that would have done it. Every stage is built so that no wrong combination looks close to the right colour. Matches are shown by a solid outline and a ✓ as well as by colour, so you can tell what is right even with colours that are hard to tell apart.
